Be part of the winter magic, Feb 25–Mar 8, 2026—help us throw Tahoe’s favorite community celebration.
SNOWFEST is 100% community-powered. Our all-volunteer board and an awesome crew of locals bring the stoke to every event—from the Street Faire to the Gar Woods Kickoff Party, fundraisers, and the big closing celebration. Whether you’ve got two hours or two weeks, there’s a role for you. Jump in, meet your neighbors, and help raise funds for local nonprofits and student scholarships.

What You Can Do
Street Faire Hosts - Guide spectators, support performers, help with wayfinding and flow along North Lake Blvd.
Registration & Check-In - Welcome participants, scan tickets, answer questions, and keep the lines moving.
Event Setup & Breakdown - Set tents, signs, fencing, tables—then help strike it all when the party winds down.
Zero-Waste “Green Team” - Manage recycling/compost stations, educate guests, keep venues sparkling.
Course & Crowd Support - Help with route marshaling, barricades, and safety at active outdoor events.
Snow Sculpture Support (Closing Event) - Assist nonprofit teams with logistics, judging check-ins, and festival flow.
Media & Content Crew - Snap photos, short videos, and reels; capture quotes and moments for our channels.
Scholarship Night Support - Help with awards flow and audience seating; celebrate local students.
Fundraiser Event Crew (Buttaball, Frozen Pickle Cup, etc.) - Field support, scorekeeping, hospitality, and sponsor relations.
Time Commitment
One-and-done: a single 2–4 hour shift
Double up: two shifts across different events
All-in Captains: help lead a small crew (training provided)

Volunteer Requirements
Ages 16+ for most roles (under 18 requires guardian consent)
Able to be on your feet outdoors for certain shifts (we have seated/indoor roles too)
Sign our liability waiver and media release at check-in
Dress for winter: layers, boots, gloves; we’ll supply safety vests if needed

SNOWFEST is a certified nonprofit organization (501c3), and your time counts toward school or graduation requirements.
Each year, high school and college students join the SNOWFEST crew to help with events, assist nonprofit teams, and experience what makes Tahoe so special. You’ll gain hands-on event experience, meet community leaders, and see how local philanthropy comes to life.

How to Get Started
Sign up using the volunteer form below and select “Student Volunteer” as your role type.
Include your school contact or service coordinator if you need verification.
Bring your verification form to check-in, and a SNOWFEST representative will sign it after your shift.

SNOWFEST is entirely volunteer-run, and our Board of Directors and committee members are the heartbeat of the festival. We meet year-round to plan events, support fundraising, award scholarships, and connect local businesses, nonprofits, and community members to the cause.

Ways to Get More Involved
Attend a SNOWFEST Meeting: Open to anyone interested in learning more or helping out. Come share your ideas, meet the board, and see how the festival comes together.
Join a Planning Committee: Help organize specific events like the Gar Woods Kickoff Party, Street Faire, or Snow Sculpture Contest.
Apply for the Board of Directors: Join the leadership team that keeps SNOWFEST strong—volunteer your time, energy, and Tahoe pride.
Meetings are typically held once a month in the North Lake Tahoe area, with additional sessions as the festival approaches.
