Tahoe City SNOWFEST Street Faire

Saturday, February 28, 2026
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Tahoe City Parade you know and love is now the Tahoe City SNOWFEST Street Faire—a reimagined celebration of community, creativity, and mountain-town spirit!

After more than 40 years of floats, beads, and snow-covered fun, SNOWFEST is evolving to keep the magic alive while keeping Main Street safe. In partnership with the California Highway Patrol, the moving parade has transformed into a lively, walk-through street party right in the heart of Tahoe City.

North Lake Boulevard will come alive with colorful floats, interactive booths, performances, and community showcases—each staged along the route for visitors to stroll, explore, and enjoy. Expect classic favorites plus new surprises and plenty of mountain Mardi Gras flair.

Join the fun, show your Tahoe pride, and help us celebrate local talent with awards for Best in Show, Best Youth Entry, Most Tahoe, and Rookie of the Year!

Whether you’re building a float, hosting a booth, or just coming to cheer, the Street Faire is your chance to be part of Tahoe’s most spirited winter tradition. Come for the beads and candy—stay for the community, creativity, and SNOWFEST fun that keeps us coming back year after year.

Help us make the Tahoe City SNOWFEST Street Faire the next great Tahoe tradition!

Tahoe SNOWFEST Street Faire FAQs

  • The Street Faire is a free, family-friendly outdoor festival in the heart of Tahoe City during North Lake Tahoe SNOWFEST. Enjoy local vendors, live music, food and drink, interactive booths, sponsor displays, and creative float-style installations similar to a parade, but stationary so you can explore them up close. It is one of SNOWFEST’s signature daytime events and a fun, all-ages way to celebrate winter in Tahoe.

  • Absolutely. The Street Faire is designed for all ages, with kid-friendly activities, live entertainment, interactive booths, games and plenty of space for families to explore together. Strollers are welcome.

  • Yes. While the Street Faire is not a moving parade, attendees are encouraged to dress up in costumes, bring the energy, and entertain along the event area. Creative outfits, themed groups, and festive spirit are all part of the North Lake Tahoe SNOWFEST tradition. Come ready to join the fun and be part of the celebration.

  • The Street Faire takes place on the first Saturday of North Lake Tahoe SNOWFEST in downtown Tahoe City. Festivities are centered in the heart of town and serve as the anchor event for a full day of SNOWFEST activities, bringing the community together for a lively winter celebration.

  • Yes. Public parking is available throughout Tahoe City, though spaces fill quickly during SNOWFEST weekend. We recommend arriving early, carpooling, walking if you’re local, or using available shuttle options when offered. See our transportation page for details.

  • No tickets are required to enjoy the Street Faire. It is free and open to the public. Some vendors, food booths, and activities may have individual costs.

  • Creative businesses, nonprofits, sponsors, and community groups are encouraged to apply to be part of the Street Faire. We look for engaging booths, interactive experiences, and visually appealing displays that add energy to the event. Participants should offer clear entertainment or engagement value, such as demonstrations, performances, themed installations, or hands-on activities. Space is limited, and all participants must apply in advance through the Street Faire application page.

  • Local businesses, artists, nonprofits, and food vendors are welcome to apply. Space is limited and fills quickly. Complete the vendor application linked on this page to secure your spot.

  • Yes. The Kings Beach Parade takes place on the second Saturday of North Lake Tahoe SNOWFEST in Kings Beach. The parade features festive floats, community groups, local businesses, music, and creative costumes. Visit the Kings Beach Parade page for full details, timing, and participation information.

  • During major winter storms in 2023 and 2024, law enforcement and emergency personnel were required to leave the Tahoe City parade route to respond to other incidents. This created safety concerns when vehicles ignored volunteers and entered the closed route, putting participants and spectators at risk. At the request of the California Highway Patrol, and with safety as the top priority, the all-volunteer North Lake Tahoe SNOWFEST board agreed to transition the event format.

Beginning in 2025, the Tahoe City parade evolved into the stationary Street Faire format, which continues to attract thousands of spectators and participants. Because Kings Beach can safely reroute traffic around a moving parade and Tahoe City cannot, the traditional moving parade safely takes place in Kings Beach on the second Saturday of North Lake Tahoe SNOWFEST. Many floats, participants, and spectators now enjoy both events.
